Helicopter Pilot Programs

Located alongside the Region of Waterloo International Airport and nestled along the scenic Grand River, Great Lakes Helicopter is one of Canada’s leading helicopter flight training schools. Since opening in 2003 with just one instructor and a single aircraft, we’ve grown into a nationally respected Flight Training Academy, offering a fully immersive learning experience for both Private and Commercial pilot students. All ground school instruction is delivered on-site, creating a focused, hands-on learning environment that supports student success from day one.
Our diverse fleet includes Robinson R22, Robinson R44, and Bell 206 Jet/Long Ranger helicopters, giving students real-world training in multiple aircraft types. Every helicopter is maintained by Rotor Services Limited, our in-house maintenance company with over 30 years of experience servicing aircraft at the Region of Waterloo Airport. With a team of seasoned instructors from a variety of aviation backgrounds, we offer a comprehensive training journey—from your first takeoff to advanced commercial certification—all delivered to the highest safety standards in the industry.
Great Lakes Helicopter is registered as a private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
